There are a multitude of issues that can occur in and around the pelvis that can cause concern and distress. Pregnancy related concerns, pelvic pain, urinary incontinence, bowel concerns, pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic floor weakness and pelvic pain can all have a significant impact on our quality of life.

At Inner Strength Bayside we offer pelvic health services to address issues with your reproductive organs, bladder and bowel, and pregnancy/child birth related concerns. Our pelvic health physio Alannah works closely with the rest of our team of physiotherapists to ensure a holistic approach to care and to ensure all of your goals are met.

Our pelvic health physio is experienced in doing a thorough pelvic floor assessment, and treats conditions ranging from incontinence or prolapse, to pelvic pain presentations.

Conditions we treat include:

  • Urinary incontinence (stress & urge)
  • Bowel dysfunction (constipation, incontinence)
  • Bladder dysfunction
  • Weak or overactive Pelvic Floor Muscles
  • Pelvic Floor Organ Prolapse
  • Pre and Post Gynaecological Surgery
  • Pelvic and sexual pain

Pre & Post Natal Care

  • Pre-natal pelvic floor screening and assessment
  • Pelvic girdle pain
  • Post natal pelvic floor assessment
  • Abdominal muscle separation (DRAM) assessment and management
  • Caesarean and perineal scar management
  • Pre and post-natal exercise (Clinical Pilates)
  • Breastfeeding concerns (mastitis, blocked ducts, engorgement)

What To Expect From Your First Appointment

Your physiotherapist will have a discussion with you and take a detailed history to help determine the cause of your symptoms, what further assessment needs to be completed, and the best course of action for treatment. A physical assessment may be required which could involve observation, internal assessment (vaginal or rectal) or                       real time ultrasound.

Additionally, your physiotherapist may ask you to complete questionnaires or diaries to help them determine the best treatment for you.

Our experienced physiotherapists understand that discussions and assessment around pelvic health can be sensitive, and our hope is that you feel comfortable to discuss things openly and without judgement, and understand that all assessments and treatment will be thoroughly discussed with you prior to gaining your fully informed consent.

These compression garments are specifically designed to provide continuous support and relief of pain during pregnancy, faster recovery after delivery, post-surgery and after exercise, by facilitating muscle healing.
